Adventure Guide: Five Things to do in Delaware

Located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, Delaware is the second smallest state in the country. Second to Rhode Island. It still happens to be the sixth most densely populated state in the country though. It is bordered by Maryland to its south, Pennsylvania to its North, and New Jersey to its North. To its East is the Atlantic Ocean, giving Delaware a number of wonderful beaches leading to the coast.

Sunbathe at Rehoboth

A lot of people are surprised by the many surrounding beach towns in Delaware. A lot of people just stumble at it and are surprised by the beauty of it. A lot of people love it exactly for being not too developed. No casinos or big condominiums nearby, just boardwalks and small shops.

Still cannot get enough of Delaware’s natural beauty? Top the trip off with a scenic walk through the historic tidal marsh of Bombay Hook Wildlife Preserve. It is a 16,000 acres stretch of diversified wildlife and habitat. It is a refuge and a breeding ground for many birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects.

The landscape is spectacularly diverse, too. There are salt marsh, cordgrass meadows, mudflats, tidal pools and streams, forests, timbered swamps, and more. There are five walking trails. Two of which are even handicapped accessible! Don’t miss it.

Go camping at Cape Henlopen State Park

Cape Henlopen is a popular fishing destination and a swimming spot all year round. While the majority of the park is not open 24/7, there is a fishing ground and a camping ground that are open all day and all night. If you are looking for a spot to set up your choice of tent, Cape Henlopen may just be what you are looking for.

Honestly, we could not think of anything more amazing than sleeping with the sound of the ocean lulling you. Maybe waking up right next to the ocean is.

Learn a little history at New Castle

Taking a step back from nature, New Castle is a beautiful historic town in Wilmington. The town was actually successful in preserving most of its historic structure. This makes it the community with the second-most historic structures, next to Williamsburg in Virginia.

Once you are there, you will definitely feel like you have been transported back in time. The architecture is astonishing. They have structures that date back as early as 1700. It will really feel like you are visiting back in time.
