Things you have to do while in Indiana
Indiana boasts some of the most unexpected landscapes from wetlands, shorelines, farmsteads, forests, to the underground, Indiana certainly has a lot of adventure tucked in. It has managed to squeeze in so many sights to see and adventures to do for such a small state.
With so much to see and do, we have done the work for you and narrowed it down to five. Here are some of the things you absolutely have to do while in Indiana.
Go cycling at Griffin Bike Park
Indiana’s Bike Park is one destination you should not miss. The park has a trail system of numerous trails that vary in difficulty for beginner, intermediate, and advanced cyclists. Out in the woods, surrounded by tall trees, there is nothing quite like riding here. The best part is, for intermediate and advanced cyclists, the park actually has enhanced trail features that will allow riders to train and up their game. Riders can even jump into a lake at the water skills park.

There is a reason why a lot of bike riders have Griffin Bike Park on their bucket list. Check the park out for yourself.
Go see the Marengo Cave National Landmark
Take your trip to Indiana underground by visiting the Marengo Cave National Landmark. It is an excellent destination for those who are just dipping their toes on cave attractions and systems. The paths are easy and the cave is well lit all throughout. It helps with those first time to go underground. Caves just do not seem as claustrophobic when they are lit up, making it even kid-friendly. You could also easily appreciate all the structures inside the cave this way.

Prepared to be stunned by what’s inside. We would definitely recommend getting both of the tours available if you have the chance.
Hike the Knobstone Trail
The Knobstone Trail is a 45-mile destination, making it the longest natural surface footpath in the state. When connected to other nearby trails, the trail system can be up to 150 miles. This makes Knobstone Trail one of the most exciting destinations for hikers and campers alike.

Best to plan ahead and keep an eye out for any announcements from Indiana’s Department of Natural Resources before your trip. Also, check out our adventure tips from choosing camping tents to tips to keep in mind when camping when kids. Stay safe!
Visit the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art
Nature can be exhausting and not everyone enjoys hiking and camping for days end in the wilderness. If you are looking for destinations in Indiana within the city, there are certainly a lot of those here, too. There is the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Wonderlab Museum of Science in Bloomberg, and the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site at Madison.
One of our favorites, however, is the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art. It is a one-of-a-kind museum that truly pays respect to the complexity and diversity of Native American culture. One that is very rarely observed in prominent institutions like this. So be sure to check them out and get your tickets here.
Unwind by the Olive Winery
Indiana’s oldest and largest winery opens its doors to visitors who want to taste and enjoy a day at the winery. Here, you can book a tasting tour and avail of their picnic packages where you get to enjoy cheese, cold cuts, and their wine with the outdoor breeze. It certainly is such a premium and romantic experience that you should not miss.
