Top Destinations in Indiana
Nicknamed the Hoosier State, Indiana boasts of plenty of beautiful destinations. The state has some of the most stunning waterfalls in the region. It has wetlands and farmsteads, a couple of state parks, wonderful campgrounds, lakes, and a pretty impressive wilderness. Indiana proves that adventures are sometimes found in places where you least expect it.
Prophetstown State Park
One of the most recent additions to Indiana’s impressive state park system, Prophetstown State Park is one destination you should not miss. It has beautiful prairie landscapes, it has farms that allow visitors to get hands-on, and some stunning hiking trails. The park continues to restore and improve the area by restoring native habitats from wetlands to open woodlands. Expect to hear more about this park soon for sure.

Indiana Dunes State Park
Nearly fifteen miles of Lake Michigan’s southern shore, this state park certainly has a lot to offer. From its rugged dunes, shoreline, prairies, flowing rivers, and forests — this state park is hard to beat. Now, we know fifteen miles does not seem enough to fill up a day trip. Do not let that fool you.
Indiana Dunes has got so much biodiversity that it ranks seventh out of more than 400 national parks in the country. Sightseeing birds, wild animals, and rare flora alone can take up to a day to get the most out of this one.
Brown County State Park
The largest of all the state parks in Indiana, Brown County State Park is the most visited state park in the state. The park is known for its beautiful and scenic views of the hills and the rustic architecture surrounding the area. Best to visit it in autumn to see the park in its fullest, most vibrant colors.

Hoosier National Forest
A national forest for a reason, Hoosier National Forest oozes with so much adventure. It has a 428 trail system that allows for all sorts of recreational activities. These activities range from horseback riding, mountain cycling, and good old-fashioned hiking.
There are numerous trails accessible so be sure to do your research ahead of time.
Indiana State Capitol
Taking a break from all the wildlife and the great outdoors, Indiana State Capitol is the perfect destination. Of course, there is more to this apart from the political and historical importance of the capitol building. The building is an architectural masterpiece in on itself. Though it certainly would not hurt to learn a little more about the state’s history in your tour as well.
