Top things to do in Arizona

things to do in Arizona

Like most of its neighboring states, Arizona is blessed with mountains and plateaus. Home to the Grand Canyon, one of the seven wonders of the world, Arizona is a stunning destination for those looking for their big adventure.

The abundance of sunshine, the stunning landscapes, the culinary culture, and the wildlife makes Arizona one of the most beautiful states in the country. Here are the top things to do in Arizona to get the most out of your trip.

Hike to the top of the Grand Canyon

On top of the list is, of course, to climb to the many summits of the Grand Canyon. Featuring numerous scenic hiking trails, hiking routes vary in the surrounding landscape, difficulty, and duration. There are rim to rim trails and moderately challenging walking trails rewarded with panoramic vistas at the end.

Now, while all trails are gorgeous on their own, it is impossible to not have any favorites. Among our favorites are the South Rim Trail, Havasu Falls, Grandview Trails, and the Rim to Rim trail. The Rim to Trail features a hike that connects both North and South rims with doubled elevation. While this hike is only recommended for experienced long-distance hikers, there are plenty of other trails and tours that are perfect for beginners.

Experience the Old West in Tombstone

Old West in Tombstone

Built to recreate the glory of the Old West of this small Arizona town, the small village is designed precisely to give the Old West experience. Do not be surprised if there are people walking in traditional cowboy outfits. The whole place is designed to entertain tourists. Stores and restaurants are designed to the smallest details, just like Westworld. There may be occasionally staged gunfights every now and then, too!

Historical landmarks can also be visited like O.K. Corral, Boothill Graveyard, and the Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park.

Drive to Sedona

Sedona AZ

A stunning destination just an hour and a half up north of Phoenix, Sedona is a must-see. Filled with red rock mountains, buttes, and canyons, Sedona is a true outdoor wonderland. Once there you can hike, ride a mountain bike, camp, or do a jeep tour. The jeep tours will allow you to get to the crevices of Sedona. Just be warned, it will be a bumpy ride.

Camp in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

Glen Canyon boasts of about 1,254,429 acres of rugged high desert terrain. Named Glen Canyon after it was flooded by the Glen Canyon Dam in 1966. This beautiful destination is a crossroad of three national parks and two national monuments. This is what makes Glen Canyon so spectacular.

At the end of a day filled with outdoor activities, set up your tent in one of the many campgrounds in the area. Enjoy a night of peace and quiet under the stars.

Take a guided tour to Antelope Canyon

This destination is popular for a reason and one you absolutely cannot skip. Known for its iconic smooth orange walls, walking through these walls is truly mesmerizing. It is worth all the trouble booking a tour ahead. Sure, it can get quite crowded, the tours are not cheap either, but there is something majestic with just being there.

Antelope Canyon

As far as our knowledge goes, you cannot go to Antelope Canyon without a guided tour. This is because the Antelope Canyon belongs to the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation. The site is considered sacred and so, the fact that we are even allowed to visit must be respected with due diligence. Can’t get enough of Arizona?
