Get Ready for an Unforgettable Experience with Sea Maui

Over the past five years, we have enjoyed taking a dozen trips with Sea Maui. We have had the opportunity to do numerous half-day snorkeling tours, whale-watching tours, and sunset cruises. On every trip, the crew has been attentive and accommodating. They are punctual and ensure we have everything needed for a safe, enjoyable outing.

About Sea Maui

Sea Maui is based in Lahaina, HI, and has been providing unforgettable experiences to visitors for over ten years. The company offers a variety of boat trips, including snorkeling, whale-watching, and sunset cruises. All the trips are captained by experienced captains knowledgeable about the waters around Maui and the wildlife that call it home.

The crew of Sea Maui is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all passengers, taking special care to ensure that everyone is comfortable and having fun. The crew has a wealth of knowledge about the local marine life. They are always happy to answer questions or take photos for guests.

Those staying in the Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Residence club, or any other hotels or resorts in Ka’anapli can easily walk to the Whaler’s Village Shopping Center, where all the tours depart. Also, Sea Maui does parking validation for guests staying elsewhere and unable to make the 10-20 minute walk to Whaler’s Village.

Note, for all the boat tours you take with Sea Maui, remember to arrive 20-30 minutes before departure to check in and get situated.

Snorkel Trips

The snorkeling trips have been especially memorable. Each snorkel trip is a half-day excursion with a premium open bar, unlimited drinks, great food, and great music. The experienced captains over the years have taken us to many of Maui’s best sites, including Molokini Crater, Turtle Town, and many more. We have seen different types of sea life, including turtles, dolphins, whales, and various fish species.

Our first snorkel trip years ago was to the Molokini Crater, followed by a trip to Lanai. Some of the clearest water was seen when on these two trips. While exploring, we saw a manta ray, various fish, sea turtles, and even an octopus!

Whale-watching Trips

The whale-watching trips have been just as exciting. Watching these majestic creatures breach the surface and play around in their pods is amazing. The crew will take you close enough to get good looks at them but still give them plenty of space.

Depending on the day, the whales may visit the boat to check you out. Before the COVID lockdowns, we had the pleasure of doing a half-day snorkel tour with Sea Maui, where we also did some whale-watching. While going to Turtle Town, we were greeted by a pod of 3-4 whales that stopped us for over 30 minutes.

The humpback whales that surrounded the boat were playing around, jumping out of the water, smacking the water with their fins, and one of them even came up underneath the netting in the catamaran to great the snorkel guests. (don’t recommend breathing in their mist, it doesn’t smell good!) Overall, it was a wonderful time filled with top-notch service, a great crew, and whales.

Sunset Cruises

The sunset cruises we have taken with Sea Maui are genuinely unique experiences. We have taken two sunset cruise options, the dinner cruise and the live music and whale-watching tour. The sunset dinner cruise was one of our favorites as it was a full-course dinner, open bar, and unforgettable sunsets.

During our last sunset cruise, it turned out to be overcast and rainy, but we still had a few close encounters with so many whales in the water. James, our captain for the evening, was one of the first we met five years ago. He found a few small pods of whales that we followed during our 2-hour sunset dinner cruise, making for a memorable trip.

In the past, we have done two other sunset cruises with Sea Maui. One was a sunset sailing trip where we dropped each sail and let the wind take us. The other sunset cruise was a dinner cruise with whale watching; it lasted almost 3 hours and gave some of the best sunset views I have ever seen!

If you want to step out from the various boat tours and into some surf lessons, the Sea Maui team also offers Sea Maui Surf, where you can get hands-on surf lessons. If you have mobility issues, you may want to pass on these tours as they all depart from Kaanapali beach and require you to walk through the sand to do beach loading.

Overall, we have had an incredible time on all of our trips with Sea Maui. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and memorable experience in Hawaii. Whether you want to explore underwater worlds or observe the majestic beauty of dolphins and whales, they will ensure you will never forget your outing. So if you’ll get out on the water, look no further than Sea Maui!
