Seen in countless movies and television shows, California is all of those and more. With its sunny weather, history, and all sorts of landscapes, we guarantee you would fall in love with this golden state instantly.

Here are some of the best destinations to get the most out of your California experience.

Vista Point, San Francisco

An icon to California, a trip to the golden state is not complete without a photo on or with the Golden Gate Bridge. It sounds like such a tourist thing to do, but the view of the bridge from Vista Point is one of a kind. It might be quite the effort driving there and hiking a little bit but the view is rewardingly beautiful.

The photos are guaranteed to be fantastic and Instagram worthy.

Wine Country

California accounts for nearly 90 percent of wine production in the United States. This is what makes wine tours such a popular activity to do here. Spending a weekend in the wine country does not have to be all about wines though. Though you can definitely spend the whole day tasting all sorts of wines, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy in the area.

Paso Robles Wine Country California

There are mountain trails for hikers and cyclists all over the valley. Other crafts are available to enjoy, too, like perfectly smoked charcuteries or handcrafted cheese. Arts and entertainment places dot the area, too, as well as great golfing landscapes.

All of which just makes for a great laid back weekend, from wine sipping and trying out all sorts of cheese.

Big Sur

Big Sur California

Big Sur is popular among locals and tourists for a reason. It boasts of some of the greatest scenery with the view of the rugged mountain plunging into the Pacific Ocean. While it is certainly a commitment to drive up there, you will be rewarded with a great view even on the way there. It just features the most scenic stretch of pure undeveloped coastline. You’ll be dazed for days, even weeks, after a trip to the Big Sur.

Lake Tahoe

A wonderful destination all year round, Lake Tahoe features some of the most dazzling sceneries. The clear topaz waters, surrounded by pristine pine forests, and towered by snow-capped mountains is like a scene out of a film. It is impossible not to fall in love with this place.

Lake Tahoe

In the summer, Lake Tahoe is the perfect hiking, cycling, paddle boarding, and kayaking destination. Or for just some good old fashioned nature walks. In wintertime though, the lake transforms and becomes a winter wonderland. There, you can go sledding, snowshoeing, sleigh riding, and all sorts of fun winter activities.

Yosemite

Drawing tourists probably more than the Big Sur and Lake Tahoe is Yosemite. Adventures are endless in this great national park. It features a vast wilderness area, grand meadows, deep valleys, and beautiful rock formations. Outdoor enthusiasts could literally spend days, maybe even weeks, in this place without running out of things to do.
