Louisiana has an overwhelming amount of historic and scenic areas scattered all over it. It has one National Forest, 22 state parks, 17 historic sites, and 955,973 acres of wildlife managed areas. As you could probably already tell, there is a lot to see and visit in Louisiana.
If you just have a couple of days to explore this gorgeous state, we have narrowed down all the must-sees into five.
Grab a drink (or two) at New Orleans
Of course, no adventure guide to Louisiana would be complete without mentioning New Orleans. We are guessing New Orleans is already on your itinerary. If not, then write it down now. New Orleans is just one of those places you have to visit at least once in your life. It is not all hype, New Orleans will charm you from your toes up. It is a haven for live music, great cuisines, parties, and beautiful architecture.
At the end of the day, there is nothing quite like having a drink in this city. Remember to drink moderately though.
Wine sipping on Landry Vineyards
A little bit more about drinking in Louisiana. There is a beautiful vineyard in the northern part of Louisiana at the beautiful hill country of West Monroe. Landry Vineyards is a family-owned winery that offers a variety of tours where you can explore the vineyard and its tasting room.
Apart from hiking and camping through the wilderness, tasting and trying out drinks from breweries and vineyards is just one of our favorite things to do when visiting new places.

Trek through Jean Lafitte National Historical Park
Voering the natural and cultural features of Louisiana’s Mississippi River Delta region, the park boasts of incredible biodiversity. From its hardwood forests, swamps, to its marsh — the park is a true outdoor wonderland for adventurers. There are plenty of activities here like a boat tour around the swamp and bayou, an airboat ride, or even a paddlewheeler cruise. Another thing to do, which not everyone may be up for is a swamp tour, where you can really get up close snakes, egrets, even alligators.
Reserve a spot on any of these tours here.
Go on a hike at Kisatchie National Forest
The only national forest in the entire Louisiana deserves a spot on your itinerary. It’s 600,000 of glorious protected forest. Apart from the usual hiking, camping, fishing, bird watching, and cycling — there is also horseback riding in the area.
There are over a hundred miles of hiking trails in the national forest. Each trail has varying lengths. Depending on how much you have there are 1.5 miles loops and then there are longer ones like Wild Azalea Trail that goes for over 23.9 miles. Whatever trail you choose, you would be presented with some of the most gorgeous sceneries the state has to offer.

Spend a sunset at Lake Claiborne State Park
Home to Louisiana’s finest freshwater, Lake Clairborne is 6,400 acres of waterway waiting to be explored. Anglers would definitely have a blast here as largemouth bass, bluegill, pickerel and bream are practically leaping from the water. Of course, apart from fishing, there are plenty of other activities and amenities, too.
