Best Camping Spots in Missouri
With Missouri’s 56 state parks, one national forest, and multiple private campgrounds, it can be tricky to know where to begin. We have done the work for you and gathered ten of the best camping grounds here in Missouri.
Bennette Spring State Park
The best campgrounds for us are those that offer plenty of other activities to enjoy. Bennette Springs is known to be one of the fishing spots in the entire state. Set up your tent here and catch a fish for dinner for the ultimate camping adventure.
Lazy Day Campgrounds
Lazy Day Campground is exactly as it sounds. The overall aura of the place makes you want to kick back and relax. Enjoy a whole day in this campground with its dog park, 3-acre pond, and a swimming pool. There are plenty of great camping spots within the campground as well.
Graham Cave State Park
Graham Cave State Park is a stunning destination of its own, even if you are not planning to camp. We believe camping is one of the best ways to really get to know the place though. Delve into the park’s unique history and pick a spot from over 53 campsites surrounding Graham Cave.
Mill Creek Campground
Mill Creek Campground is a good camping spot for those who are just dipping their toes into camping. There are over 67 campsites in the area. Many of which have electricity outlets available for your convenience. Here, you may ride a boat or a kayak. There are also plenty of trails to hike or run in if you are up for it.

Table Rock State Park
Nestled in the beautiful Ozark Mountains, Table Rock State Park is one of the best spots to enjoy the area’s stunning scenery and landscape. If you are lucky, you may even be able to spot some wildlife from white tail deers to tarantulas.
Echo Buff State Park
Echo Buff State Park has over 74 campsites. Some are more modern, some can be pretty challenging and more primitive too. Campers here will enjoy a variety of activities from fishing, biking, bird watching and swimming. The site of the scenic cliff on the side of Sinking Creek is a must-see, of course.
Lake Wappapello State Park
In our opinion, bodies of water makes every campground much more exciting. They make it more scenic and they instantly offer a variety of other activities from kayaking, swimming, to peaceful boat rides. Anglers here would particularly enjoy the abundance of bass, crappie, and catfish here.
Alley Spring Campgrounds
If you like caves and undergrounds as much as we do, check out Alley Spring Campground. This one has over 300 identified caves scattered throughout the area. The scenery is stunning and the springs and waterways throughout are perfect for a quick swim and some kayak.
St. Joe State Park
Adventurers love St. Joe State Park for its off-road trails that allows for some ATV rides. It is also an incredible spot for birdwatching that wildlife enthusiasts would enjoy. If you are up for some ATV fun and wildlife watching, St. Joe State Park is the best spot to set up your tent on.
Cloud 9 Ranch Club
Of course, not everyone loves camping from scratch. For those who have some extra money to spend for a luxurious camping experience, check out Cloud 9 Ranch. They offer ATV rides, cave explorations, fishing activities, as well as horseback riding activities. Since it is private and more secured, it is a great spot for family camping activities.
